Our SDGs
Goal 1: End Poverty
As a social enterprise, AIF’s business model includes comprehensive strategy with an end goal to eradicate poverty. Through an independent study commissioned by IFC and carried out by the University of Chicago, it is estimated AIF will generate $756 million worth of discounted net incremental value for the people of Rwanda: $532 million of this is attributable to the projected reduction in malnutrition rates due to our nationwide collaboration with the Ministry of Health on nutrition in the ‘First 1000 Days’, which will improve productivity and reduce healthcare costs for the next generation.
Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
Africa Improved Foods is an African social enterprise with an agenda to address the food challenges facing the continent by producing nutritious, healthy and affordable products. In collaboration with several organizations such as the Government of Rwanda and WFP our products feed vulnerable communities including refugees in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan and Mothers and children in the “Ubudehe1” (the most vulnerable citizens) in a bid to fight malnutrition in the region. Our commercial brand “Nootri” is available on shelves in Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya giving consumers access to top-tier nutrition at an affordable price.
Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
Africa Improved Foods is a joint-venture between the Government of Rwanda and a consortium of Royal DSM, Dutch development bank (FMO), DFID Impact Acceleration Facility managed by CDC Group plc and International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. We are a true testament to the success of partnerships in addressing global issues.
