Solutions addressing malnutrition

WFP: Africa Improved Foods manufactures SuperCereal Plus as a flagship product in our solutions addressing malnutrition. SuperCereal Plus is a Fortified Blended Food (FBF) of partially pre-cooked and milled cereals, fortified with micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) and usually mixed with water and cooked as porridge.

Super Cereals were formulated in 2010 to replace corn/wheat/rice soya blends, a highly nutritious food blend used for decades to treat moderate acute malnutrition (MAM), support pregnant and lactating women and increase the intake of micronutrients of target populations.

It was discovered that besides being bulky and containing an incomplete range of vitamins and minerals for MAM treatment, the corn/wheat/ rice soya blends also lacked dried skimmed milk and other easily absorbed nutrients. This product is produced for World Food Program.

GOVERNMENT OF RWANDA: Food insecurity remains a significant threat in Rwanda. Many children are chronically malnourished and underweight prompting the Government of Rwanda to find a lasting solution to food insecurity and malnutrition. This is where AIF Rwanda comes in. Together with other development partners, AIF Rwanda now produces the Shisha Kibondo product range for the Government of Rwanda. These products will be freely distributed to the most vulnerable population segment in the country with the intent to address malnutrition and stunting.
